The provider's price for the session is split between the children: each child is one share. The more join, the less everyone pays. You confirm the final price before paying.
It starts with one trial session: that's all you confirm and pay for first. After it, you get 48 hours to confirm the rest in monthly blocks (about 4 sessions). The block price is set by the families who continue and is never above the price you saw for the trial. If too few continue, the block doesn't run and nobody is charged.
